Boron: Each chemistry student at Bloomingdale High School researched boron and created their own tile. Many great ideas and works of art were produced, but ultimately this tile was chosen by popular vote. It has the symbol for boron as well as a flower. Boron is well-known for its use for laundry detergent in the form of borax. It is not commonly known that boron is necessary for the proper growth of plants. Without sufficient boron in the soil many plants are stunted and susceptible to diseases or pests. This fact served as the inspiration for our tile. In the end nearly 160 votes were cast and this tile was chosen by a large margin.
