AeXIOM (Advanced eXploration, Inquiry, and Observation in Mathematics) is an intensive four-week residential program for high-achieving high school students who want to experience mathematics the way professional mathematicians do: through exploration, creativity, conjecture, proof, and discovery.
Jointly offered by the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Mathematics and Renison University College's School of Global Engagement and Education, AeXIOM invites students into one of the world's most dynamic mathematics communities. Participants spend four weeks immersed in mathematical thinking, guided by leading faculty, experienced mentors, and a community of equally passionate peers.
Unlike programs focused primarily on contests or acceleration, AeXIOM focuses on the process of mathematics itself. Students learn how mathematical ideas emerge, how new questions are discovered, and how abstract thinking can be applied to understanding the world.
This is mathematics as an intellectual adventure.
Through AeXIOM, students become part of Waterloo's
globally recognized mathematics community while developing
the skills, habits, and curiosity that define successful mathematical thinkers.
