Introducing Teaching Support and Innovation: A New Name for Waterloo’s Integrated Teaching Support Unit
Following the recent integration of the Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE), the Centre for Extended Learning (CEL), and the Teaching Innovation Incubator (TII), the Provost has officially approved Teaching Support and Innovation (TSI) as the new name for Waterloo’s integrated teaching support unit.
The new name reflects TSI’s commitment to providing comprehensive, forward-looking support that responds to the evolving needs of Waterloo instructors. Under the leadership of Director Aldo Caputo and senior management team members Donna Ellis, Associate Director, Curriculum and Pedagogy; Pia Zeni, Associate Director, Digital Learning and Design; Kyle Scholz, Senior Manager, Teaching Innovation and Leadership; and Mary Power, Senior Manager, Faculty Support Services, TSI brings together pedagogical expertise, digital learning and design, and support for teaching innovation and educational leadership in a single, cohesive unit.
What’s next?
As TSI begins this new chapter, the unit will review its activities in the context of its updated mandate. A redesign of the unit’s online presence is also underway to make teaching resources and support easier to find and navigate.
