Astronomy on Tap is back in KW, so join us to sit back, relax, and learn about the Universe, while also having a couple of drinks and a bit of fun!

In 2024, Southern Ontario will see a total solar eclipse for the first time in nearly 100 years, plunging us into darkness for several minutes as the Moon blocks out the light from the Sun. Throughout history, these incredible events have inspired humans to understand the Universe around us, but also been seen as frightening and evil omens...

This month we'll hear from two astronomers from the University of Waterloo about the impact of eclipses on science, culture and history. Kat Frazer will share the role total eclipses played in proving Einstein's theory of general relativity, and Liza Sazonova will explore how eclipses have been viewed as dark omens throughout history.
