Astronomy on Tap is back in KW, so join us to sit back, relax, and learn about the Universe, while also having a couple of drinks and a bit of fun!
Stars can live for billions of years, producing energy through nuclear fusion in their cores. However, this process can't last forever, and at the end of a star's life they transform into strange, exotic objects like white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes. These objects produce incredibly strong gravitational fields, which can have surprising, unintuitive impacts on their surroundings.
At Astronomy on Tap this month, we'll be hearing about the science of these stellar leftovers. Michael Gammon will give a tour of the stellar graveyard, talking about the different types of remnants stars can leave behind. We'll then dive into black holes with Shokoufe Faraji, who will speak about the most bizarre of all astronomical beasts.
