The WCA-KPL Astronomy Talk series takes place on the last Wednesday of each month, and is jointly organized by the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and Kitchener Public Library.
Canada has made significant contributions ever since the early days of space-based astronomy, and now the prospect of a flagship Canadian-led space telescope as a successor to the Hubble Space Telescope is alive and well. At this month's KPL astronomy talk, Cam Morgan will speak about the CASTOR mission, an ultra-violet telescope that promises to compliment other cutting-edge missions, such as Euclid and the Roman Space Telescope, throughout the 2030s.
Cam Morgan is a graduate student in the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Waterloo. He is a member of the CASTOR Science Team, and his research specifically focuses on understanding how galaxies evolve and form new stars. Cam is also involved in science outreach and communication, and runs regular public tours of the Gustav Bakos Observatory at the University of Waterloo.
