Mohaddesseh Azimlu completed her PhD dissertation on studying star-forming regions at University of Waterloo in 2009. Then continued her research on star formation in other galaxies at Western University in London, Ontario and later joined Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in 2011. She left academia and joined Ontario Public Services in 2015, but continued outreach activities in science and astronomy since then. She is currently a team lead at the Ministry of Health, employing her knowledge in data science and mathematical modeling to lead data and forecasting team in public drug programs.

Liza Sazonova is a an incoming postdoctoral fellow at uWaterloo, working on structural evolution of galaxies using the upcoming Rubin LSST survey. She received her PhD from Johns Hopkins University, where she worked as part of the SPOGs collaboration on trying to understand the life and death of post-starburst galaxies.  

Sara Issaoun is an NHFP Einstein Fellow at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian and a member of the Event Horizon Telescope collaboration. Her research centers around the collection, calibration, and imaging of millimeter-wave radio observations of supermassive black holes. Sara aims to expand millimeter-wave radio imaging capabilities and forge strong connections between the first images of supermassive black hole shadows and physics probed by partner facilities across the electromagnetic spectrum. Multi-wavelength constraints on black hole accretion flow properties will critically inform the scientific interpretation of images of black hole shadows, our understanding of jet-launching mechanisms, black hole spin measurements, and, ultimately, precision tests of General Relativity.

Emery Trott is a Physics PhD candidate at the University of Michigan advised by Dragan Huterer. Emery is interested in tensions in the LCDM model of the Universe, and is currently working on how gravitational waves can inform us about the Hubble constant.

Dr. Angelo Ricarte is a theoretical astrophysicist and Black Hole Initiative (BHI) fellow at the BHI at Harvard University.  He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California at Berkeley in 2013 before completing a Ph.D.

Jiamin is currently a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow hosted by the University of Florida and the Max-Planck Institute of Extraterrestrial physics. She is interested in cosmology and applying summary statistics to the large-scale structure to understand the early Universe as well as fundamental laws of physics.

David is a Blavatnik and Rothchild fellow at the University of Cambridge, testing theories of gravity with diverse methods. My main research recently is focused on Binary motion of stars (pulsars, Gravitational waves, Gaia...) and Binary galaxies to test dark energy and modified gravity.

Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo is a Canada Research Chair and an associate professor of physics at the Université de Montréal. She is an expert on the most massive black holes in the Universe and her work is revealing how these black holes act as the beating heart of galaxies, ultimately shaping the properties of galaxies throughout cosmic time.
