Bioinformatics is a program that encompasses courses in mathematics, biology, computer science, chemistry and, of course, bioinformatics. As the program is one of the smaller ones at Waterloo, among our goals is to connect students in the bioinformatics program to those in related areas.
We plan to host tutorial nights where a few of us will talk about topics — anything from genome annotation to using R for statistical modelling to generating phylogenetic trees. Later in the term, we will be hosting a journal club on interesting literature. Our door is always open. If you have a topic that you would like to talk about, feel free to send us an email.
We’re always looking for new members, so please don’t hesitate to check out our club. We welcome students from all faculties.
