Han Le
PhD Graduate Student

Le Han obtained his BSc degree at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2014 and his MSc degree at the University of Waterloo in 2017. Currently, he is a PhD student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo, under the supervision of Professor Bizheva. His research focuses on the development of high-speed and high-resolution parallel OCT system at a reasonably low cost that can in-vivo image the 3D cellular structure and vasculature of human ocular tissues such as the cornea, limbus, and retina without invasion and contact.
Lin Kun Chen
MSc Graduate Student

Lin Kun received his B.Eng degree in Engineering Physics from McMaster University. He is currently a MSc student supervised by Professor Bizheva in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo. His research involves using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and Doppler OCT (D-OCT) for analyzing the retinal damage caused by glaucoma, as well as fine tuning the VGG16 (a convolutional neural network model) to perform OCT image classification for eye diseases.
Weixiang (Tony) Song
MSc Graduate Student

Tony graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where he received his BSc degree with a major in physics and a minor in mathematics. He joined Professor Biziheva’s group as a new MSc student in September 2019. Carrying a keen interest in optics and clinical applications, he wishes to investigate how OCT performs with different light sources and interacts with various living targets (cells, tissues, etc.), and therefore, could potentially help to characterize the diagnosis of multiple diseases.
