What do we do?
The Business and Industrial Statistics Research Group (BISRG) consults with businesses and industry on a variety of shared goals and contemporary quality improvement issues. We offer comprehensive knowledge and training to senior executives, managers and technical personnel seeking methods for improving the quality and productivity of their organization. Such training is offered in the form of public courses or, more often, as seminars customized to suit the specific needs of a business or organization and presented within their own facility.
Some of our past Corporate Members include: AT Plastics, Bell Canada, BF Goodrich Canada, BUDD Canada, Campbells Soup Company, Canada Post Corporation, C-I-L Inc., Continental Can Canada Inc., Dofasco Inc., Donohue, Epton Industries Inc., Esso Petroleum Ltd., GSW Water Products Company, General Motors Canada, Lear Seating Canada, Lear Seigler Industries Ltd., Metal Koting Continuous Colour Coat, Nortel Networks, Quebec and Ontario Paper Co. Ltd., Research in Motion (RIM), Stelco Steel, The Woodbridge Group of Companies, Uniroyal Goodrich Canada Inc. and Xerox Canada Inc.
Why are we partners with business and industry?
We are proud of our strong bond with corporations. Their philosophical and financial support has provided for special endeavours over the years, such as research projects and an endowed chair in Quality and Productivity at the University of Waterloo.
Promotion of quality concepts
The promotion of the importance of quality and its role in productivity improvement is a major undertaking of the BISRG, fundamental to our mission. The ultimate goal is to deliver the message within the University to our current students and, at any opportunity, to audiences from the business community.
Examples of our efforts are the inclusion of the concepts and methods within the University curriculum for some engineering and mathematics students.
