Winners announced for Concept $5K Competition
This semester IC3 partnered with UWaterloo’s Concept to launch the brand-new Climate Change Grant, an additional funding opportunity offered through the Concept $5K Pitch Competition. Students were encouraged to think outside the box and develop innovative projects focused on climate solutions.
New enabling technologies are going to play a big role in tackling climate change by helping us decarbonize our lives and reduce risks to our health, infrastructure and safety. When we set out to partner with the team at Concept, we wanted to use this first Climate Change Grant to test our belief that UWaterloo students and faculty are particularly well-suited to play an outsized role in finding climate solutions.
We saw an incredible response to the Climate Change Grant from students across campus. Students delivered innovative ideas and projects geared towards shaping a sustainable future, highlighting UWaterloo’s potential to be a major hub for climate technology innovation.
Over 75 student teams representing all six university faculties competed in the Concept's $5K. Four student teams competing for the Climate Change Grant advanced to the Concept $5K Finals.
