Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting

  • The previous meeting’s minutes were accepted as distributed.

IST’s N: drive service and OneDrive migration update (Andrew McAlorum)

  • A draft communication regarding this work was sent to CTSC members for review via email
  • This has been mentioned at leadership forum; no feedback has been provided yet
  • IST is currently looking at discontinuing the N: drive service in February 2023, likely around reading week
    • The N: drive infrastructure will still exist, the service will just be discontinued

Comments and discussion

  • How will OneDrive work in a lab environment, where N: drive and OneDrive are currently both used?
  • There are no forseeable issues with making this change during reading week
    • Making this change in between terms might be a better time
  • Netapps server will not be affected since the N: drive infrastructure is not going away
    • Netapps renewal is a separate project; discussions regarding this will be had at a later time
  • N: drives can be remapped after the migration is complete if necessary
  • Academic Support Units are migrating this term
    • Any interested faculties who wish to migrate early can request to do so
  • Engineering will not be moving to OneDrive en mass
    • Communication wording should be adjusted to acknowledge this

Other Business/Roundtable

Health, Trevor

  • Has anyone had issues with providing support for the high volume of requests coming from the retiree email migration?
    • Environment did not see many issues; most requests were redirected to contact the IST Service Desk
    • Many users did not read the instructions carefully which attributed to most of the reported issues
    • Only retirees on Exchange were migrated; retirees on mailservices were not migrated

WUSA, Pratik

  • Does anyone use the RT API?
    • Computer Science uses API for inventory and command line tool
    • Math uses API for inventory and custom queries

Environment, Don

  • Environment is only going to allow up to 50% of local machines to be in used in person, plan is to have labs open when computer lab sessions are being held
