Chair’s Remarks (Bruce Campbell)

  • Thanks to Colin and Steve for chairing the last few meetings.

Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting

The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as distributed.   

CTSC chair discussion

Members discussed the reasons for appointing the TIS director in IST as the Chair of this committee.

  • Bruce Campbell will continue to stay up to date on the committee via the Chair and the meeting minutes.
  • Members agree to make a more concerted effort to bring relevant topics to this committee to discuss.
    • Suggestion was made to have a standing item on the agenda where the Faculty representatives bring forward an item to discuss.

Other Business

MatterMost

  • Communication/chat tool very similar to Slack.
  • Multiple areas on campus are either using Slack or MatterMost.
  • MatterMost is cheaper but has very similar integrations and APIs.
  • CTSC members agree that this would be a valuable tool to try out campus wide.
  • Andrew McAlorum will follow up to determine site licensing options.
  • Data is stored locally.

NetApps

  • IST is expanding netapp storage space in response to requirements for additional space.  If any faculties/departments would like to expand storage, or move to IST’s file service (if they have not already done so), please contact Steven Bourque.

Roundtable Reporting

Due to time constraints there was no roundtable.

The next meeting will be held on August 17, 2017 at 1:30pm, in EC2 1021.
