Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting
The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as distributed.
Campus Email – Technical Working Group (Steven Bourque)
Steven Bourque provided an update on campus email.

MC research computer room update (Bruce Campbell)
- The Sharcnet facility is being built currently on the first floor of the MC building; funded by Compute Canada.
- Bruce Campbell will meet with John Morton to discuss the possibility of using the storage space for other scenarios. Will follow up after the meeting.
Other Business
ID cards
- Every student in Engineering will require an ID card with RFID to be able to access many labs/rooms in Engineering.
- Contact the Watcard office; they have the technology to make this work, but there will be a cost associated with it.
Roundtable Reporting
Technology Integrated Services, IST (Steven Bourque)
- Sent an email out to undergrads about migration to Office 365 at end of this term. Also sent an email to those who are on the uwaterloo.ca tenant.
- Looking to roll out that tenant to staff/faculty buy August.
- People using the legacy DNS servers is decreasing.
Science (Paul Miskovsky)
- eValuate is running well this term; up to 2000 courses loaded now and over 100,000 surveys.
Computer Science (Lawrence Folland)
- Our distributed file system is now in alpha mode; after some time, will bring some of our experts on it to talk about it at a future meeting.
- Rogers is coming in to do a survey of our needs in the DC building.
- In the midst of rebuilding our Ubuntu services.
- We have a professor in CS using a tool for doing computer based exams; will need to investigate more.
- Engineering developed a tool called LearnLock that is used for this type of service.
- It looks like there is interest in using CrowdMark more widely on campus; concerned about end user support.
