Chair’s Remarks (Steven Bourque)
- Frequency of CTSC meetings being held
- Due to the lack of agenda items, should meetings be scaled back?
- Members think meeting frequency should be kept as is.
Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting
- The previous meeting’s minutes were accepted as distributed.
Mattermost site license (Andrew McAlorum)
- Mattermost was purchased for a 2-year trial, as agreed upon by CTSC
- Since the launch of Microsoft Teams, Teams has becoming increasingly popular and widely used
- Majority of the campus community are on Windows/Mac and use other Microsoft applications on a regular basis
- Mattermost usage has been on a steady decline
- Since January 2019, there have been 23 new Mattermost users in contrast to 900+ new Teams users
- Microsoft Teams is free (included in the Office 365 license)
- If a campus group relies on the use of Mattermost, IST can buy individual licenses for these groups
- The Mattermost license will expire on September 17, 2019
Comments and discussion
- There is a way to archive Mattermost conversation history
- Knowledge base articles will be created to document this process
- Teams SEW courses are offerred regularly
- Custom courses for departments can be requested

- Business case has been uploaded on the CTSC wiki
Other Business
MySharePoint (Trevor)
- MySharePoint sites are being removed
- SharePoint will be migrating to the cloud
- Losing site bookmarks within MySharePoint is not ideal
Office 365 (Trevor)
- Will all Office 365 accounts be pre-activated for departments?
- This is currently being discussed at UCIST meetings
- Once the policy is finalized, pre-activation processes will start

- Is there a plan to merge students and faculty/staff email to the cloud?
- There is currently no timeline for this
Roundtable
Computer Science (David)
- Temperature changes in DC affected servers
- Lab server addresses have been updated
Information Security Services, IST (Jason)
- There will be an announcement going out regard 2FA for ERP applications
- Applications include LEARN, Concur, Quest, Workday, Unit 4
- Will be announced late July 2019
- Users who sign up for 2FA for their emails will automatically have 2FA enabled for all ERP applications
- 2FA is required in order to view financial information on Quest while a user is off-campus
- Staff with access to student financial information will be required to activate 2FA in the near future
- There is currently an issue with WatIAM and SailPoint
- Users are randomly showing up as 'expired'
- Currently investigating to get the issue fixed
- It is observed that people being affected only have one affiliation with the university
Library (Adam)
- There is currently only one Systems Administrator due to staffing changes
Technology Integrated Services, IST (Steven)
- Last Thursday, a new 10GB Internet connection (Openface) went live in replacement of the 5GB connection (Allstream)
AHS (Trevor)
- New guest wireless service is working well
- Is it possible to obtain group management logs for software update purposes?
- Reach out to Mike Patterson for more information
- Alternatively, using Grouper might be a good alternative
Arts (Nevil)
- Experiencing issues with staff in the department having their status changed from 'Academic' to 'Expired'
- Department is down to 22 machines
Environment (Donald)
- Department IT audit has commenced and is going well
Client Services, IST (Andrew)
- Akindi has been selected to replace Scantron as the multiple choice assessment
- Working with Print and Retail services and the Registrar's Office on implementation
- Will have opportunities to test during Spring midterms and finals, as well as Fall midterms
- Scantron license will not be renewed after November 2019
- Akindi works on any fax or scanner on campus, instructors will be able to process multiple choice exams themselves without having to come to IST
- Single sign-on
- Sites will be moving to ADFS
- New site has been created for information on single sign-on
- UW Emergency Desktop Notifications
- Notifications currently do not work for latest version of Mac OS, currently looking for a replacement vendor
