The CPA Ontario Centre for Sustainability Reporting and Performance Management (CSPM) at the University of Waterloo hosted the 2021 Performance Management Field Research Symposium virtually over five days in April. We welcomed over 100 attendees from all over the world.
The Research Symposium began on Wednesday, April 21 with a 1-hour interactive panel discussion aimed at PhD students and academics interested in learning about how to get started in field research. The expert panellists included:

- Carolyn Deller, University of Pennsylvania
- Ranjani Krishnan, Michigan State University
- Utz Schäffer, WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management
Following the panel discussion, there were research paper presentations over the 4 remaining days (April 22, 23, 29, and 30) of the Research Symposium. The four paper presentations focused on different performance management topics, but had the common theme of relying on field-based data and studies. Each presenter spoke for about 15 minutes on their respective research and findings. The remaining time in each session was dedicated to an interactive Q&A. Our presenters included:

The Research Symposium ended with a social hour on Friday, April 30 where attendees could meet and connect with each other.
CPA attendees were eligible to receive up to 5 CPD hours for attending the research symposium.
