The CPAO Centre for Sustainability Reporting and Performance Management at the School of Accounting & Finance of University of Waterloo is pleased to announce the webinar Disruptive Dames: Women’s Transitions Into Organizational Leadership to be held on Monday, September 30th, 2024 from 12 noon - 1 pm.

In this webinar, Professor Claudine Mangen, the RBC Professor in Responsible Organizations at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, will speak with Professor Liz Demers about her research on women in leadership, particularly in the accounting and finance functions. This event will be an inspiring and informative session exploring the dynamics that disrupt gender inequalities in leadership roles within for-profit organizations across Canada.

Prof. Mangen is the lead researcher on the SSHRC-funded program “Disruptive Dames? The process of disruption underlying women’s transition into organizational leadership.” Her research delves into how organizations contribute to maintaining and disrupting gender inequalities, with publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.

In her recent essay, Prof. Mangen discusses how labels based on gender can delegitimize individuals in the workplace. This exploration into how such labels undermine authority and maintain systemic inequalities underscores the importance of her work. Prof. Mangen’s research is not just academic but a call to action, inspiring change and promoting equality in leadership.
