DIESEL at the International Shoulder Group Conference

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

This past week, a few members of DIESEL travelled to Winterthur, Switzerland, for the 11th Conference of the International Shoulder Group!

Angie Lang, Clark Dickerson, and Alan Cudlip in front of the Swiss Alps.

This conference occurs bi-annually, and covers topics in computer modelling and simulation, movement analysis studies, clinical trials, and experimental biomechanics. It was an excellent opportunity to network and exchange scientific knowledge with other shoulder researchers, clinicians, physiotherapists, and biomechanists. The outlook is good for future international collaborations!

One of our PhD students, Alan Cudlip, led a presentation on his research entitled "Examining NSCA and ‘Powerlifting’ Bench Press Techniques on Upper Extremity Muscle Activity", while a future DIESEL PhD student Angie Lang presented "Kinematics of Reaching and Dexterity Components of a Functional Capacity Evaluation: Creating Normative Profiles for Compensation Identification".

DIESEL supervisor, Clark Dickerson, chaired a scapular kinematics presentation session in addition to being a co-author on a paper* that won "Best Presentation" at the conference.

A job well done to the attendees of this conference! Take the rest of us with you, next time.
