Mikhael Zavala Thyer earned a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering with a minor in Military Arts from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC). His studies culminated in a four‑day Cyber Defense exercise, where he maintained network operations using Active Directory, and a capstone project leading the design of control software for a cube satellite. The project expanded to include simulator software, later presented to the Canadian Space Agency and slated for implementation on RMC’s Audimus Satellite.

Zavala’s achievements earned him the Navy League of Canada Prize as the top graduating Naval Officer, recognized across academics, fitness, military bearing, and bilingualism. He also received an award for tutoring nearly 100 first‑year students, supporting their academic success.

In September 2025, Zavala joined the DQM group as a graduate student researching Quantum Machine Learning with applications in neurobiology. Beyond academics, he is a dedicated powerlifter training toward national standards and enjoys exploring diverse culinary styles.
