Dr. Dixon, along with colleagues from four other Canadian Universities, was the recipient of the 2013 NSERC Synergy Award for collaboration with a small Canadian business. This award recognized the team's work with Yellow Island Aquaculture, an organic Chinook Salmon farm on Quadra Island in British Columbia. Yellow Island has collaborated with researchers over the past 20 years to improve Chinook Salmon aquaculture practices. Dr. Dixon, in particular, has worked on the health and immunity of the fish stocks used at Yellow Island.
