Lowine Hill is a PhD candidate at the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo, Canada. She is working under the supervision of Prof. Derek Armitage and Jeremy Pittman. Through an intersectional, transdisciplinary approach, she investigates disaster risk governance from ridge to reef in the Caribbean; specifically looking at how social networks can influence policy making pertaining to disasters. She is also interested in global policy making processes on the topics of climate change and unnatural disasters. Finally, she is co-leading an initiative on “Decolonising methodologies for sustainability research” at the Faculty of Environment of the University of Waterloo.
