The Gamma Method

Introduction

The Gamma Method is for finding interesting times in time series data sets.  Typically, these data sets come from sensor clusters deployed in the field.  It is a quick, flexible, and transparent method for finding the interesting part of a data set.

This presentation is an introduction to The Gamma Method for time series data sets.  The Monterey Bay data set is from "Observations of nonlinear internal waves at a persistent coastal upwelling front" (Walter et al, Continental Shelf Research 2016).
