Office of the Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning and Policy

Christine McWebb, Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning and Policy

Welcome to the Office of the Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning and Policy!

Reporting to the Vice-President, Academic and Provost, the Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning and Policy is responsible for academic personnel issues, across three intersecting areas: Faculty Relations, Faculty Life Cycle, and Policy Review and Development. Working closely with the Deans and other senior leaders, the Office supports faculty administrators’ policy related decision making and provides expert advice, support, and leadership in recruitment, retention, performance review, and professional development of faculty, and plays a key role in faculty relations matters, including compensation negotiations. The Associate Vice-President liaises with the Faculty Association of the University of Waterloo (FAUW) and has delegated authority, from the Provost, as decision-maker in grievances brought by faculty members under the terms of Waterloo’s Memorandum of Agreement with the University. The Associate Vice-President and her team are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all our faculty related processes.

The Office of the Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning and Policy is a newly created unit in the Office of the Vice-President, Academic & Provost. As such, we will update this website regularly and add new content as we build out the team and portfolio. We invite you to get in touch with us for feedback about the site or any questions you might have! avpfpp@uwaterloo.ca
