Our speaker will be Professor Bruce Muirhead from the History Department at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Muirhead will be discussing his latest research: “Supply Management Matters”. Source: Centre for International Governance Innovation CIGI (2014)

Dairy supply management has come under attack over the past half-decade, and is seen as an impediment to progress in terms of negotiating multilateral and bilateral trade agreements, as well as being an outdated system that confers unearned benefit on a very small sector of the Canadian economy – dairy farmers. In this talk, I will present an opposite perspective to what has become accepted wisdom. Dairy supply management is as important and useful in 2014 as it was when it was introduced nationally in 1971.

Feel free to bring your lunch. I hope you can join us!
