About the Project

  • It is important to have opportunities for patients and their families to be engaged in health care research, planning, and decision making
  • Seniors are the greatest users of the health care system
  • Currently there is little focus on how to engage seniors within the health care system

Our Goal for Today

  • Understand your opinions and experiences of patient and caregiver engagement in:
    • Decisions about treatments and plans for care
    • Decisions about health care policy, planning and priorities (and research)
  • Gather feedback from you on strategies or frameworks to support greater involvement of patients and caregivers in the health care system

How we’re using your knowledge & experiences

  • Your experiences and opinions will let us know your perspectives on how patients and caregivers would like to be involved in health care decision-making
  • Results will be given to you, other citizens, researchers, and policy makers who can help change the system!

The term “Patient Engagement”

  • Engagement = Your involvement
    • involving patients and families in open communication and making decisions
  • Also known as:
    • Community Engagement, Patient Involvement, Consumer Engagement, Patient Centred Care…

We want to know how YOU want to be involved in your health care
