The Waterloo Climate Institute is the focal point for climate change research at the University of Waterloo. Established in 2008, they are an Interdisciplinary hub of Waterloo faculty researchers from all six Faculties, hundreds of students, and scientists from partner institutions and government agencies.

The Cranky Weather Research Lab studies the impacts of neighbourhood scale urban design to evaluate the effects of climate mitigation strategies on thermal environments and human health. Research includes extreme heat and air quality impacts on older adults, neighbourhood and park design, and schools, combining field measurements with numerical modelling.
The Sustainability Office at the University of Waterloo is the central hub for sustainability action and information on campus where they work to integrate sustainability thinking and climate action into academics, operations, and engagement.
