
Professor Vitalis is currently an associate professor in the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo. He holds a PhD from The University of Wisconsin-Madison and a CPA certification from Minnesota. Professor Vitalis brings deep experience from over thirteen years in various industry roles, including Senior Manager at Deloitte, Director of Enterprise Risk Management at U.S. Bank, and production accountant in the film and television industry.
Professor Vitalis specializes in researching how cognitive limitations affect risk processing and information cues in audit and financial reporting. His work, at the intersection of economics, behavioural science, and information processing, aims to deepen understanding of audit and climate change decision-making. He focuses on the impact of factors such as incentives, norms, personal traits, and regulations on information processing, seeking to challenge established norms and enrich policy, theory, and practice. He has published in numerous journals, including Contemporary Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, the Journal of Sustainable Finance & Investment, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, International Journal of Auditing, and Accounting Perspectives.
