The event is open to participants associated with the University of Waterloo, including students, faculty, staff, and alums. We will communicate to you if we can open participation to the broader Region of Waterloo community.
We aim to make this activity accessible to all participants, regardless of financial constraints, by covering the cost of materials through grants/sponsorships. This way, everyone can benefit from enhancing indoor air quality and safeguarding their well-being. We will communicate with you if there is a participation fee.
We hope to run the activity on a weekend during the second half of the Spring 2023 term (July-August), or the start of Fall 2023 (September). We may run two separate events depending on interest, with multiple small sessions.
The activity will likely take 1-2 hours to complete.
Yes! There is a wired remote that controls the lights.
The total material cost for one air purifier ranges from $250-$280. This cost may be reduced depending on the number of participants and if any items can be purchased on sale or through bulk purchases. We aim to make this event free for participants through grants/sponsorships but will let you know if there is a participation fee. A list of the materials and designs needed to make your own will be posted after the event.
A future survey will be shared for signing up and finalizing participant numbers with those who have already indicated interest. We will also communicate with you if the event cannot be run.
