Dr. Odeeth Lara-Morales is a Post-Doctoral Fellow working for the project Implementing Sustainable Community Plans in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED) at the University of Waterloo. She holds a Ph.D. in the discipline of Marketing, Enterprise and Sustainable Tourism from Anglia Ruskin University (UK), and has taught Sustainable Tourism and Management courses at Lord Ashcroft International Business School (LAIBS) in Cambridge, UK.

Dr Lara-Morales is passionate about sustainability and about achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on a local level through the implementation of sustainable community plans, and the development of environmental programs, collaborative strategies, and market-based instruments and approaches.

She has participated in international conferences such as the UNESCO Week for Peace and Sustainable Development, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP13), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit.

She is currently working to publish three articles from her Ph.D. dissertation on Ecotourism as a Mechanism to Achieve Sustainable Development in Indigenous Communities in Mexico. She is also working in collaboration with the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL) to publish an article on sustainable development.

Dr. Lara-Morales joined the team in September 2017.
