Participating

What happens when you participate?

Participating in one of our studies can be an enjoyable and engaging experience for you and your child. You stay together the entire time, and as an extra thank-you, your child will receive a small gift too!

Although studies themselves only last 5-10 minutes, visits to the lab are about half an hour. This lets the researchers answer any questions you have, and also lets your child get comfortable in a new environment by having some fun with toys before the study. During the study, your child may listen to language sounds, watch a television screen with different pictures on it, watch a puppet show, perform simple tasks with toys, or play a game with the researcher using stuffed animals and puppets.

Our research is not possible without the participation of families like yours in the community. We are very grateful to all of the families who participate and we hope to see you soon!

Please contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to sign up!

If you are interested in participating but can't make it into our physical lab, children ages 3-7 can also participate online! These studies are run through Zoom, so they do not require a visit to the lab. More information can be found at www.uwcoral.ca.
