Social Program
The organizing committee is pleased to offer participants a choice of three optional social activities during the free afternoon on Wednesday. These excursions provide an opportunity to experience some of the natural beauty, history, and culture of Southern Ontario while networking with fellow conference participants in a relaxed setting.
Whether you prefer breathtaking scenery, cultural exploration, or outdoor adventure, we hope you will find an activity that matches your interests.
Option 1: Excursion to Niagara Falls - $60
Join us for an afternoon visit to one of the world's most iconic natural landmarks. A comfortable coach bus will take participants from the conference venue to Niagara Falls, where there will be free time to enjoy the spectacular views, walk along the promenade, take photographs, or experience the power of the falls up close with a boat tour or a walk behind the Falls (admission tickets to be purchased separately).
Transportation to and from the conference venue is included. The tour is expected to last from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A lunch box will be provided.
Option 2: Guided Tour of the Mennonite Countryside - $45
Discover the unique heritage of the Waterloo Region through a guided tour of the local Mennonite countryside. This excursion offers an introduction to the history, traditions, and lifestyle of the Mennonite community, whose horse-drawn buggies and traditional farming practices remain a distinctive feature of the region.
Participants will enjoy the scenic rural landscape while learning about the community's cultural and historical significance from an experienced guide.
Transportation to and from the conference venue and guided tour are included. The tour is expected to last from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Option 3: Canoeing on the Grand River - $75
Enjoy an afternoon on the water with a canoe trip along the beautiful Grand River. Suitable for participants with little or no canoeing experience, this excursion offers a relaxing way to experience one of Ontario's designated Canadian Heritage Rivers.
The trip follows a gentle stretch of the river surrounded by forests, wildlife, and picturesque scenery, making it an excellent opportunity to unwind and connect with nature after several days of technical sessions.
Transportation, canoe rental, paddles, safety equipment, and basic instruction are included. The activity is expected to last from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Registration
Participation in the social activities requires advance registration through the conference registration system, as places are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additional information regarding the logistics of the activities will be provided through the conference website and on site.
We encourage participants to register early to secure their preferred activity. Accompanying persons are welcome to join by purchasing an additional ticket in their name.
Please note that an activity may be cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not reached. In that case, registered participants will be notified in advance and offered the opportunity to select an alternative activity or receive a refund.
