Zaid Al-Dabbagh

Research Assistant

Zaid is pursuing a second Bachelor of Science in Psychology after discovering a passion for the field during his first degree in Biomedical Sciences. Studying language development further sparked his interest in perception and cognition, prompting him to learn more and seek hands-on experience as a research assistant in the lab. He hopes to pursue a MASc in Clinical Psychology while continuing to explore broader interests in human behavior and culture through hobbies like history, politics, and arts- including music, comedy, and writing. 

Tiffany Austen Chong

Research Assistant

Tiffany is in her 3rd year of completing her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Honours Psychology with a Research-Intensive Specialization at the University of Waterloo. She is interested in learning more about the impact of growing up in a multilingual household on a child's language development. Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading, listening to music and making art! 

Jordan Hunsberger

Research Assistant

Jordan holds an MA in Psychotherapy from Wilfrid Laurier University and a BMus from Humber College; he is currently a post-degree Psychology student at the University of Waterloo. His current research involves how children acquire more complex syntactic structures. In his free time, Jordan loves to cook and spend time outdoors with his friends and family. 

Joshua Jung

Research Assistant

Joshua is in his 5th year of biomedical sciences, and plans on pursuing a master's degree in psychology. He is interested in how the usage of new acronyms in children's vocabularies affects their speech learning. Outside the lab, he enjoys drawing and playing games! 

Megan MacGregor

Research Assistant

Megan is in her 4th year of her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Honours Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology at the University of Waterloo. She is interested in early language acquisition and the role of neuroplasticity in language development. Outside the lab, Megan enjoys photography, crafting, and taking her golden labrador on trail walks.

Vy Nguyen

Research Assistant

Vy is a third-year Honours Arts (BA) Psychology student in the Research-Intensive Specialization. She is particularly interested in how children explore and learn through play, observation, and sensory experiences. In the future, she plans to complete an honours thesis and pursue graduate studies in Developmental Psychology. Outside of the lab, Vy enjoys cooking, thrifting, and photography. 

Cheyenne Salazar

Research Assistant

Cheyenne completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Honours Psychology at the University of Waterloo and is currently taking a gap year. She is interested in how different accents influence children’s perception of others. Outside the lab, Cheyenne enjoys reading and spending time with her cats! 

Leah Wong

Research Assistant

Leah is an RA in her 4th year of her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology. She enjoys learning about language development and bilingualism. Currently, she is thinking about EPIC: The Musical and which manga to read next. 

Joanna Xiong

Research Assistant

Joanna completed her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Honours Psychology with a Minor in Biology at the University of Waterloo and is currently a Research Assistant at LIDL. She is interested in exploring the cognitive processes underlying language processing in bilingual children. Outside the lab, Joanna enjoys reading about the psychology of dogs and baking not-too-sweet treats.
