Bookable spaces in the Libraries

The Libraries have a variety of spaces that are bookable for University-related and community events. We follow University Policy 15 for all bookings. If you are looking for bookable study space, please go to the Libraries’ study room calendar.

Request processing time: 3 days for internal requests; 10 days for third party / external requests.

General conditions and conduct

  • Priority will be given to events & activities from within the Libraries, then academic, research or administrative activities of the University.
  • Library spaces are not available for regularly recurring classroom or event bookings.
  • Any parking permits needed must be organized directly with the Sustainable Transportation Office.
  • No pets (service animals permitted).
  • No physical games, such as wrestling or soccer.
  • No unauthorized signage.
  • No alcohol or smoking, including e-cigarettes, vapes etc.
  • No sale of merchandise or services.
  • Noise levels must stay at an appropriate level and not disrupt regular library services and activities.
  • Rooms must be left in good condition.

Dana Porter Library

Dana Porter Learning Lab (LIB 323)

Capacity: 35

Amenities:

  • Groups of movable tables + chairs
  • AV tech / two projectors (key available at Library Help Desk)
  • Whiteboards
  • Closed door

Suitable for:

  • Workshops
  • Discussions
  • Presentations
Quiet reading area with wall-mounted magazine racks, brown armchairs, and large windows letting in natural light.

Dana Porter Reading Room (LIB 338)

Capacity: 18

Amenities:

  • Casual seating
  • Standing room
  • Closed door
  • Pre-approved smudging space

Suitable for:

  • Discussions

Davis Centre Library

Davis Centre 1568

Capacity: 45

Elevators Elevators and centrally located and provide access to all public floors Elevators are directly in front upon entering through the main entrance
Multifaith and quiet spaces Room 702 A small multi-faith/prayer space is available in Davis Centre on the third floor at the end of the hallway; it is walk-in and not bookable, with capacity for approximately 6–8 people
Accessible Washrooms First floor The Davis library’s universal washroom is a gender-neutral, accessible single-stall washroom located directly across from the circulation desk, past the RBC Information Commons
Single Stall 4th floor There are two single stall washrooms. Follow signs for 1568. Non-wheelchair accessible, gender-neutral washrooms on the lower floor.
Accessible Parking Visitors are encouraged to confirm locations and permit requirements with Parking Services when planning events in the DP Lobby, Learning Lab, or Reading Room There are accessible parking spaces besides the Davis Centre. Visitors should connect with Parking services if any permits are required.
