On Sunday, September 8, 2019 Plant Operations will cut power to the entire Dana Porter Library from approximately 6:00-10:00 AM for scheduled maintenance.
In preparation for this maintenance, the Library's virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) in both Davis and Dana Porter will be powered off beginning at 11:00 PM Saturday, September 7, and restored before the libraries open Sunday, September 8. This includes all public and staff VDI clients in both libraries.
As well, numerous Library-run web sites will be taken offline before the maintenance window, starting at approximately 4:30 AM, and will be restarted after the maintenance is complete. These include:
- Library home page and custom applications:
- Get access from anywhere (Get it @ Waterloo)
- Course Reserves
- Study room booking
- UWSpace
- All OJS Journals, including Open Journals, CJDS, PCED, CFS, CGJSC
- Waterloo Digital Library repository
- Special Collections & Archives' Access to Memory (AtoM) application
- Library's mail server
- Cognos server
The following applications will be turned off late Saturday and restarted after the maintenance window:
- Textura (will affect iframe license text in Primo)
- Lib[data]docs
- Airflow (email alerts will resume by Monday morning)
During the maintenance window, the following sites should NOT experience any downtime (though the items they link to may not be available):
- Library catalogue and Voyager
- Research Guides
- Ask Us (LibAnswers)
- WCMS pages, for example About the Library, Contacts, Hours
Our apologies for any inconvenience this power outage causes. We have taken steps to make this process as quick and smooth as possible, and are investigating ways to eliminate downtime completely in any future required power infrastructure maintenance.
If you wish to contact Digital Initiatives (DI) or Library Facilities and Technology Services (LTFS) regarding any particular aspect of this power outage, please submit an RT ticket by sending an email to library.help@uwaterloo.ca.
