This week’s SARNIF blog highlights Elyse Letts, who started working with the research team as a volunteer while completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at UW. She is currently working on her Masters in Medical Science with a focus on pediatric exercise medicine.

Elyse works on the Return Home Interview SARNIF initiative and is motivated by her interests in dementia-related research as well as improving the overall quality of life of persons living with dementia. Alongside her colleagues, they noticed a gap in data surrounding adults who go missing, persons living with dementia, as current data primarily focuses on missing children. Elyse took on the role of second interviewer and will also be aiding with quantitative and qualitative analysis of these interviews, in addition to helping write the practice guide for return home interviews. She hopes that this initiative will enable greater confidence, security and independence for persons living with dementia and prevent future missing incidents and reoccurrences.
