Hector Perez is a postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Health at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Lili Liu. He currently holds a Mitacs-AGE-WELL Acclerate award and is supported by industry partner Clinisys EMR. He is passionate about how he can improve people's lives using technology. Perez focuses on data models for risk estimation of getting lost among people living with dementia. His research interests are ageing, technology, healthcare innovation, healthcare data science and visualizations.
Perez is a former doctoral researcher at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (University of Toronto) and at the Mayo Clinic. He is also a graduate of the University of A Coruña (Spain), University of Minho (Portugal), Shiga University (Japan) and University of Guanajuato (Mexico), and he studied ontologies (OWL) for health knowledge discovery at Stanford University.
Perez enjoys teaching, helping others to succeed, and collaborating with others. He has more than four years of teaching experience in Mexico and has also taught as a visiting scholar in Russia.
