Biographical sketch: Ezra A. Martin was born 11 September 1876 to Abraham B. Martin and Susannah W. Allgeier Martin. He was the fifth of ten children born to the couple. (Abraham had two additional children with his second wife.) Ezra died 30 March 1939.

Ezra married Judith Sauder (16 May 1882-31 March 1960) on 12 January 1908. They had six children -- Abraham S., Menno S., Owen S. and Betty S. (twins), Judith S. and Philip.

Ezra and Judith lived first in Baden, Ontario where he worked as a dyer. About 1917 they moved to St. Jacobs, where he worked as a laborer. Ezra and Judith were members of the Old Order Mennonite Church.

Custodial history: Donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario by Maurice Martin in May 2007

Scope and content: The fonds consists of property tax forms, several letters, and genealogical correspondence and notes. The materials were preserved by a son, Menno S. Martin.

3. Letter from Israel Martin to A. B. Martin 19 August 1918 from England. Israel was a half-brother of Ezra Martin who was a member of the 4th Canadian Reserve serving in England.
4. Christmas card, ca. 1882, passed on to Menno S. Martin by Abraham Bowman in 1962.
5. Two hand-colored evangelistic religious cards of the 1930s by Philip Martin Kilmer stored in an envelope from Gerald B. Winrod, the American evangelist with anti-semetic beliefs.
