Laura Hug, Lead Principal Investigator, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Environmental Microbiology, is featured in the BBC Radio 4 Series Bacteria: The Tiny Giants.
Bacteria: The Tiny Giants is a new series on BBC Radio 4 uncovering the science and magic of bacteria and is hosted by Tim Hayward. Laura is featured on two episodes in the series.
In Microbial Cities and New Worlds (episode 1), Tim sets out to understand the basics of bacteria: what they are, where they are, how they function, how they interact, and where they came from. Laura seeks to answer these questions, and explains how recent advances in DNA sequencing of environmental bacteria in the last 15 years has provided us with an enormous opportunity for understanding the diversity of life on earth – and where we came from.
