Region of Waterloo Waste Management Division

The Region of Waterloo manages one active landfill and six closed landfills in the Waterloo region. It has been operating the Waterloo landfill since 1973 and employs a number of environmental safeguards and monitoring programs to protect the surrounding ecosystem. The Region of Waterloo is a key partner to this project and will provide the project team with access to its landfills.

Telops, Inc.

Based in Quebec City, Telops designs and manufactures high-performance hyperspectral imaging systems and infrared cameras that can be used for a variety of applications across industries, including research, defense, and oil and gas, among others. Telops, Inc. is a key partner to this project and will provide support on the use of hyperspectral imaging and infrared camera for greenhouse gas monitoring, a method with significant potential for improving the accuracy of site-scale emissions data.

ECCC – Waste Reduction and Management Division

As part of its responsibility for managing and reducing waste, the Waste Reduction and Management Division identifies approaches and best practices that will reduce pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions. They are a key partner to this project and their collaboration will ensure that the project’s research priorities are aligned with those of the federal government, as well as facilitating knowledge mobilization to end users.
