Graduate student

Hitesh completed a BOptom at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi in 2017, where he also served as President of the Optometry Students’ Association (2016–17). Following graduation, he worked as an Optometrist before moving to Canada in 2019 to pursue further studies. He earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Administration from Conestoga College, Ontario, in 2020.

Hitesh has been working as an Ophthalmic Technician at TLC Laser Eye Centres for the past 4 years, where he has gained extensive experience in refractive and intra-ocular surgery, pre- and post-operative assessments, and patient management.

In January 2025, he began his MSc in Vision Science at the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo, involving research at the Murphy Laboratory for Experimental Optomerty (MLEO). His current clinical and research focus includes dry eye disease, tear film stability, and ocular thermography. Building on his background in optometry and understanding of the human pre-corneal tear film, he is particularly interested in the interplay between ocular tear film breakup, volumetric variation of tear meniscus and rate of change of ocular surface temperature.
