Abhishesh (Abh) joined the lab in September, 2021. He completed his BSc in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo in 2020. During his undergraduate program his undergraduate thesis looked at how different reaction strategies were used to regain balance after a perturbation.
He is currently completing his master’s degree at the University of Waterloo within the Neurocognition and Mobility Lab. His research interests include gait analysis, cognitive and emotional impacts to gait and virtual reality environments. He is using VR to complete his thesis research, which aims to investigate “Does the way we walk change depending on how we are currently feeling?” He hopes that his thesis research can contribute to fields of affective neuroscience, gait recognition and gait analysis in both clinical and commercial spaces. He aims to continue his master’s work into a PhD and investigate whether we can predict/recognize emotions from gait after completing his master’s degree in July, 2022.
