WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Apr 12, 2012) - The University of Waterloo this week unveiled an international collaboration that was a year in the making and blends science and art.

Contributors, investors and chemistry educators attended the public event this week to get a first look at the large mosaic known as the Chem 13 News Periodic Table. Chem 13 News is a monthly magazine that Waterloo's chemistry department publishes. The unique project is approximately 8 metres by 5 metres in size and hangs in the foyer of the Centre for Environmental and Information Technology.

University of Waterloo awarded six Canada Research Chairs.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Mar. 19, 2012) - The University of Waterloo’s latest Schlegel research chair is a leading expert on nutrition and healthy aging whose work will improve the nutrition of older adults, helping them lead longer and healthier lives.

Professor Heather Keller is the newly appointed Schlegel research chair in nutrition and aging at the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging. She is a registered dietitian who has led and participated in national and provincial projects aimed at supporting the nutritional health of older adults.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Mar. 15, 2012) - A University of Waterloo geographer is leading a trailblazing effort to reclaim environmentally important peatlands that once covered more than half the Athabasca landscape but have been scraped away by oil sands mining.

Students in seven University of Waterloo engineering programs, including the first graduating class of management engineering, will display inventive design projects during Engineering Design Symposium Week beginning tomorrow.

Approximately 750 senior engineering students will present more than 150 design projects, posters and prototypes to the public, industry guests, alumni and the academic community. In the past, design projects such as BufferBox, a self-service parcel delivery kiosk with 24-hour a day access, have led to the successful startup of local companies.
