WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, July 3, 2012) - Ten graduate students from the University of Waterloo received prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships that will help them pursue and complete doctoral degrees and conduct significant research.

The awards recognize top academic achievement and leadership skills, and were announced today. The awards include Vanier scholarships from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, June 25, 2012) – The University of Waterloo is pleased to announce that Nicole Pitre, of Burlington, Ontario, and Nicole Shum, of Burnaby, British Columbia, have been chosen to represent their high schools as inaugural Schulich Leaders.

Originally, only 20 high school students across Canada were to receive the four-year, $60,000 Schulich Leader Scholarships. Due to the overwhelming number and calibre of the nominees, the number of scholarships was doubled to 40.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, April 17, 2012) - The Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre (Conrad) at the University of Waterloo today received a US$1.6 million grant that will boost countless student businesses.

The Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®), owner of the GMAT® exam and the leading membership organization of graduate business and management schools worldwide, announced the award today. Waterloo was the only Canadian university to receive funding this round.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011) - Maclean's magazine has once again recognized the University of Waterloo as having the best reputation of any Canadian university.

Waterloo has again been recognized as the top university in the Reputation Survey of the Maclean's annual rankings of Canadian universities. Waterloo has also taken the top spot in two of the three reputation subcategories - Most Innovative and Leaders of Tomorrow - and finished third in the Highest Quality subcategory.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011) - The University of Waterloo will officially install Feridun Hamdullahpur as the university's sixth president and vice-chancellor at fall convocation on Saturday, Oct. 22. As well, Waterloo's first class of pharmacy students - 87 in total - will graduate, along with 1,874 other students.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011) - Five University of Waterloo graduate students today received Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships, prestigious awards that recognize top academic achievement and leaderships skills.

The national awards, announced during a ceremony at McMaster University, celebrate scholarly accomplishment in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health fields. The awards are valued at $50,000 annually for up to three years.
