The Occupational Biomechanics and Ergonomics Lab (OBEL) is proud to celebrate the achievements of Nathania Chan and Chris Moore in recent NSERC award competitions.
Nathania Chan begain working in OBEL in January 2020 as a co-op research assistant. Shortly after launching her OBEL co-op position, she relocated to Bossier City, Louisiana to gather data from our research collaborators at Functional Capacity Experts LLC. Nathania was spearheading research related to the practice of functional capacity evaluation, when the world changed! Nathania's efforts to collect data in the field quickly transitioned into finding expedient air travel and preparing for a 14 day mandatory self-isolation period up her return. However, Nathania persevered through the uncertainty, demonstrating her strong resolve. It is her resolve, passion for research and strong academic achievements to date that have propelled her recieve a prestigous NSERC Undergradaute Student Research Award (USRA). The OBEL team is proud of Nathania and her achievement and we look forward to continuing our functional capacity evaluation research through the summer term.
Chris Moore is a former NSERC USRA award recipient, and now is also the proud recipient of an NSERC Post Graduate Scholarship! Chris has been an active contributor to the OBEL team since September 2017. As an undergraduate student Chris interned in the lab, providing support to a research project evaluating patient turn effectiveness using turn-assist technologies. As a 4th year thesis student, Chris spearhead a research study investigating the efficacy of sharps-proof clothing to reduce biomechanical demands on municiple waste collectors (current in revision with Applied Ergonomics). Chris recently shared highlights of this work at the 2019 Association of Canadian Ergonomists Conference in St. Johns, Newfoundland.
OBEL is proud to celebrate the hard work and achievements of Nathania and Chris. Congratulations on your NSERC awards.
