Dr. Grace Gomashie’s work sits at the intersection of health systems, language, equity, and knowledge mobilization. Her scholarship and applied research examine Indigenous language vitality, bilingualism, and language shift, with particular attention to decolonization, onomastics, and inclusive research practices in Indigenous and minoritized communities.
Drawing on sociolinguistics and interdisciplinary approaches, she focuses on how knowledge moves across academic, community, policy, and applied innovation contexts, and how research can be translated into practice to support equitable, community-informed innovation, strategic partnerships, and cross-sector collaboration.
At Velocity, Grace supports health-focused innovation by building strategic partnerships and advancing initiatives that connect research, policy, and practice. She brings deep experience in institutional collaboration from her work at the University of Waterloo, along with community-based and equity-focused perspectives shaped by her PhD and postdoctoral research in the humanities and social sciences.
