Biography of Margaret Visser
Margaret Visser is a Canadian writer who focuses on history, anthropology, and mythology of everyday life. Born in South Africa, she holds a doctorate in Classics from the University of Toronto, and taught ancient Greek and Latin at York University for 18 years. She is the author of five best-selling books and many articles about various aspects of modern Western life.
The public lecture will examine the propensity in Western society to fall into a state of fatalism, and the consequences of this. The seminar will explore the manifestations and meaning of gratitude and ingratitude in the context of Western culture, which will be the topic of her next book.
