To date, the University of Waterloo has experienced layoffs primarily within its seasonal workforce as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. These layoffs came earlier than expected and may last longer than the normal time for callback.
We are currently evaluating public health guidelines that may impact further employment measures however, there are no decisions at this point. We are also monitoring our student enrolment numbers, which are consistent with what we may have previously expected. However, we have extended the deadline for full tuition refunds until June 1, so we will not have a complete picture until that time.
