When will the University divest from its fossil fuel investments?

The University has applied to become a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) in 2020, and the UNPRI has acknowledged our application. This commitment will impact the University’s pension and non-pension investments. This commitment comes out of a working group the University put in place—the Responsible Investment Working Group—who examined this issue for over one year.

The University is committed to applying ESG principles as an important lens in all its investment decisions, which includes the assessment of climate change impacts. Additional commitments by the University include the plan to be carbon neutral by 2050, which is outlined in the University’s recently released Climate and Energy Action Plan.
