New publication on the role of landscape architects and non-profits in shaping green infrastructure in residential developments

RISE team member and PhD candidate Hazem Ahmed has co-authored a paper with Principal Investigator Michael Drescher and co-Principal Investigator Dawn Parker. The article, titled “Intermediary functions of landscape architects and non-profits in shaping green infrastructure within new residential developments in Ontario, Canada” is published in Urban Forestry & Urban Greening and is available online via open access.

The article is based on interviews conducted with landscape architects and environmental non-profits to understand their function as intermediate actors in planning residential green infrastructure (RGI) in Ontario. The interviews also investigated the perspectives of these actors on promoting RGI in Ontario. The authors propose a collaborative framework that integrates both key and intermediary actors, while further suggesting that RGI benefit quantification tools can help to build consensus among actors for RGI.
