Wetland Cleanup

The Waterloo Wetland Laboratory is leading a wetland cleanup November 9, 2022 to emphasize the importance of urban wetlands, and to bring the community together in an act of stewardship to keep a local wetland clean.

The cleanup is from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. We will muster at Fischer-Hallman Road and Columbia Street (across from the Sobeys) for a quick presentation before the cleanup begins.

Monday, October 23, 2023 12:00 pm - 12:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Second Annual Wetland Cleanup

Following the success of last year's event, the Waterloo Wetland Lab is happy to announce that we are leading a second annual wetland cleanup on November 9, 2023. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, an environmental advocate, or just looking for a way to spend some time in an urban green space, this event is for you.

Microplastics are present in all five of the Great Lakes, but there is no coordinated, basinwide effort to monitor and report on the status of plastic pollution. In a new report, the International Joint Commission (IJC)’s Great Lakes Science Advisory Board proposes regional coordination to systematically measure Great Lakes microplastics.

The board is hosting a one-hour public webinar on the report’s findings at 1 p.m. (ET) Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Experts from the work group will summarize the report and answer audience questions.

Advanced registration is required for this free public webinar via the event website (ZOOM).
